Sound Leisure Restoration

Sound Leisure offers a full restoration service to bring its older machines back to their full glory. We have an unequalled wealth of experience and technical expertise available to bring even the most neglected of examples back to their best. We take great pride in maintaining our company heritage, ensuring the highest level of detail and service is achieved with every jukebox, old or new.

Restoration work can vary in scale from simply replacing faulty bubble tubes to a full cabinet strip and re-polish.

We followed one jukebox restoration project during its time back at Sound Leisure.

Resto tag The machine Serial Number B212 is a ‘Broadway’ model, manufactured in the early 80’s when our nostalgia range were built at Sound Leisure’s first home in a small back-street in Leeds. The company at that time had a staff of only 20 enthusiastic jukebox nuts, building machines primarily for pubs and clubs where they were extremely popular.

Indeed B212 was to find a home in a North Yorkshire pub, where it stayed for almost 15 years, playing everything from Elvis Presley to Radio head. The pub owners eventually sort a change of pace and pastures new, but their attachment to B212 ensured it traveled with them to their new home.

It's years ‘in service’ had however taken its toll, and the machine had the war wounds to prove it, including dents, scratches and smoke damage to its colouring. To add to the restoration challenge, the owners then ‘temporarily’ stored the ‘Broadway’ in a cold damp garage until their new house was arranged and decorated.

6 years later, they got round to finding a perfect spot for it, but found it had deteriorated further and called Sound Leisure. Predictably when we plugged the machine in it worked first time, even though the cold and damp had tried its best to sabotage the workings, testament to the component and build quality of our products.

The owners however decided that having endured the previous period of neglect B212 warranted a good dose of TLC and opted for a full technical service as well as the essential cabinet and front door restoration work. We followed it on it's journey.
